Patient or Impatient?

As I am sitting here waiting for an oil change, I thought about waiting, is it hard as we make it out to be? I think that in certain circumstances we think that it is hard, especially if we think we are in a hurry. What are we not impatient about? What do we find not hard to wait for? Do we having problems waiting for food at a restaurant, or what about at a fast food restaurant? What about the results for a test that we had to take due to our health? What about seeing our babies walk for the first time, or sending them off to school, or even graduating college? These are but just a few of things in life that one time or another we might come across.

We as a generation live for the now, we want things done not tomorrow. A saying that I have heard in the past is “I want it done yesterday”. With that kind of attitude, it is no wonder that this world is the way it is. King David was a very impatient man; here are just a few examples of that. David and Bathsheba saw her and had to have her. (II Samuel 11)David has Bathsheba’s husband Uriah killed. These are just two things that we all have heard and known that David could not be patient about and we know where that all led. With David’s son dying because of his sin (II Samuel 11:14-). This is just one example from the Bible and there are others but even through David’s impatience God still said that “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart”.

So even with our impatience, God knows our heart and our desire and if your desire is God’s desire then you can have God say when your life on this earth is done, “Well Done good and faithful servant” Isn’t that what we all want to hear?
